As we get older, the word love takes on more meaning. Love becomes directed toward other people rather than things. We’ve loved family members, of course, but as we mature, love becomes romantic. But we must first deal with the complication of lust.

For many addicts, the depth and despair of their disease can be limitless. The fortunate few who do recover are some of the strongest individuals alive. Addiction is dark, engrossing and consuming. It's a deeply rooted demon, whose hunger can never be satiated. In active addition, nothing is more powerful than the craving to use. In recovery, nothing is more powerful than the desire to live. Recovery is filled with hope, gratitude and grace. I am nearly two years sober and my purpose in life has never been greater. We do recover!
